My work is currently on show at The Grant Bradley Gallery and R.E Bucheli Gallery in Bristol as part of group shows. I have two solo exhibitions coming up, one in July at The Southville Centre, Bristol and one in August at The Phoenix, in Exeter.
My paintings arise from a longstanding interest in British urban scenery. I see unpopluar aspects of cities such as brutalist architecture, graffiti and decay as belonging to something beautiful and tend to avoid recognised attractions, seeking out the views which more reflect my spirit. Using my photographs as a guide, I try to create something freer and more textually alive than photo realism whilst retaining the atmosphere of the photographed scene. I am more concerned with the mood and mystery than with shape and design.
